Allen
The city of Allen was established in 1872 by the Houston and Central Texas Railroad. In 1878 Sam Bass lead what has become known as the first train robbery in Texas. The town was incorporated in 1953 and has grown dramatically since that time. The current population of Allen is about 85,000. There are approximately 14,000 households of which 55% have children under the age of 18. The city has excellent schools and a rather unique school system comprised of 17 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 1 freshman center and 1 high school.
